Load bearing wall removal Sheffield S10
This was a load bearing wall removal job based in Crosspool Sheffield S10.
The customer wanted to remove the load bearing wall between the dining room and kitchen to make an open plan kitchen diner.
The first job was to get the structural engineer calculations done to determine the size of the RSJ steel joist that needed fitting. Then we had to notify the sheffield council building regulations department.
The 1st floor ceiling joists in either room were propped using acro props and timber this stops movement and the dropping of the floor above. we then set up another row of acro props with steel pecks on known as strong boys. These are put in place to hold the brickwork of the load bearing wall to make sue that doesn't drop.
Once everything is securely held in place and propped we started to remove the load bearing wall.
The RSJ was then sat on concrete padstones at either end for added strength.
They also wanted to open up the chimney breast to house a range cooker
